Birthday Boy

Even though it has been awhile since Alex has turned one, I should tell you all how his birthday was. I was going to wait until we got the pictures back from the photographer, but it is taking a lot longer than I expected. So, I'll post those pictures later.
For Alex's birthday, his Grandma Nendy came over for the celebration and spoiled him with presents. We had french toast for his birthday dinner and I made an oatmeal cake, since we don't want him to eat to much sugar right now. The cake turned out really good, but I think Alex liked the whipped cream the best. We took a video of him eating his cake, but it is really long. He sure is growing up fast.
I also made Alex a birthday crown. On it says, "It's My Day". He definitely didn't like it, he kept pulling it off and if we put it back on he would just fuse, but by chance we just happened to get a good picture of him with it on.

First Hair Cut

Before

After

Alex got his first hair cut on Wednesday. I was so scared to do the chopping off, especially on a unhappy toddler who just seemed to know that I was about to cut off his golden locks.

Alex, the lover boy

Yesterday, while we were waiting to see the doctor for Alex's nine month appointment, we met a mom and a daughter. They sat by Alex and I. I asked how old the daughter was. She was a year old, even though she was so small, smaller than Alex. But it was so cute. The mom was holding her daughter and I was holding Alex. Alex leaned over to the little girl and was reaching for her. The other mom said, " oh, he wants a hug, can you give him a hug?" So the little girl reached over and gave Alex a hug, and they did that about five times. Alex is such a lover boy!

Willing to help

Alex is always wanting to help, especially when daddy is fixing or putting things together. In this case daddy is putting shelves together, and Alex is wanting to help in any way he can. So, he gets to hold the tools, trying not to put it in his mouth.

My time with Grandma and Grandpa

Alex loves spending time with grandma and grandpa. One day we had all the grandparents over for dinner and Grandma Penny insisted on feeding Alex. Each time she went to fill Alex's mouth with more food she would give him an exaggerated funny face, which made Alex smile and the food spell out of his mouth like a waterfall. They had fun together, and everyone else had fun laughing, which made even more food come out of Alex's mouth.

Halloween

Halloween went very quickly. At first I didn't think it was coming fast enough because we had all this candy and the temptation to eat it came with it. We were trying very hard to have it last til' Halloween. The candy did last, but no kids showed up to take it off of our hands.
That day was a very busy day. In the morning I had visiting teaching and then the rest of the day was spent making cookies for a Halloween party that Derek's school club was participating in. So, we then had to go and drop those off at the party, have them take pictures of Alex, because he is just so cute. After getting home from that we were planning on trick or treaters to stop by, but no such luck. SO, out came the scary movie after Alex went to sleep, which was a bad idea, because I then could not sleep, "I was scared!"
Alex was a pumpkin for Halloween, at the party, he won another costume, which was a good thing because he ended up have a very messy diaper while we were out.
